MICHAEL FIGHTING FITNESS BATTLE!

Michael Owen has given England a massive injury scare ahead of their mouthwatering quarter-final clash with Brazil.

The Liverpool striker picked up a slight groin strain in the win over Denmark and sat out training again on Tuesday, along with Daruis Vassell, who has a back problem.

Paul Scholes' foot injury also kept him out of the session, but says he "should be able to train tomorrow or Thursday", and will make the Shizuoka showdown, but Owen is still the main concern.

Sven Goran Eriksson said after the Denmark win that he expected the striker to be fit, although concerns are growing after Owen cancelled a press conference appearance to get treatment on the problem.

BOLTON RECRUIT OKACHA SIGNS WITH BOLTON
Nigerian playmaker Augustine 'Jay Jay' Okocha has signed for Bolton Wanderers on a free transfer.

The 28-year-old, who quit international football following Nigeria's first-round exit from the World Cup, has put pen to paper on a two-year deal at the Reebok Stadium.

The move comes after Bolton boss Sam Allardyce earlier ruled out signing the skilful midfielder, saying his wage demands did not fit in with Wanderers' budget.
